Off the Eaten Path

The other night, we hit up Duck Walk on Belmont just east of the Redline. Let’s start off by saying this place always seemed bigger from the outside; we got there at prime dinner time and snagged one of the last empty tables. The food was decent, we ordered the fresh spring rolls appetizer. I’ve had better.

Then I ordered the Rice Stick Noodle, and over all the dish was pretty satisfying, nothing that really stands out when it comes to Thai food. Lois ordered the Bamee Garlic Noodle, and this dish was much better tasting, in my opinion than mine.

So it was all good, until I started staring at the ugly brown and copper painting spanning the west wall. I look at Lois and say, “man, that paint job is horrible.” She turns around (her back has been against the wall the whole time) and points out the little flies all over the wall (dozens of them), which I had assumed where black dots of paint from where I was sitting. This, of course, was noticed after our meal, when the place was packed. We were kinda grossed out so we quickly paid the check and got out. Sadly, I think they lost our business that night.
